Andy Giles Associates: experience, passion, flair and innovation

At the heart of the Andy Giles Associates team are its four principal partners...

Andy Giles

AGA Senior Partner

In addition to his PR role with several AGA portfolio clients, Senior Partner Andy Giles also runs the media-bookings side of the business, probably a link to his time spent briefly selling advertising space to earn a crust in the 1970s.

But it was as a journalist that Andy first found his feet. As a freelance music scribe, he wrote for New Musical Express, Melody Maker, Sounds and Rolling Stone, before becoming involved in top-level rock-music PR. He drifted into the burgeoning international audio industry quite by accident – initially as a media consultant and journalist in the mid-late 1970s – eventually forming Andy Giles PR and Media in 1985.

Andy always likes to remember how it all started: “I got into PR in the hi-fi business as it then was, with my first account in 1977 – and that was only because I was broke, wrecked through rock and, more importantly, didn’t have an audio system to play all the LPs and singles I blagged when I was a music journalist!”

Henry Griffiths

AGA Partner

Henry began his career as a journalist in 1997 on an electronics trade magazine, before joining What Hi-fi? a year later. After a couple of years he went freelance, continuing to work extensively for What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision and contributing regularly to gadget bible Stuff and classical music title Gramophone.

In 2002, Henry was hungry for new challenges. Swapping deadlines for making the headlines, he accepted a post as press officer with Cambridge Audio and Mordaunt-Short.

Since August 2005 he has worked with Andy Giles as an associate specialising in national newspaper, luxury lifestyle and interior design media coverage – the perfect platform to indulge his penchant for fine dining and rugby football.

Tim Bowern

AGA Partner

Tim joined Andy Giles Associates in 2007, bringing with him extensive publishing experience and a passion for music, technology and Arsenal Football Club.

Having trained in media and sound production, Tim began his journalistic career in 1994, co-launching an independent music journal before joining Haymarket’s What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision magazine. He later became Editor of respected specialist publication Hi-Fi Choice, reversing the title’s circulation slide and winning a series of publishing awards in the process.

His CV also includes a stint at Dennis Publishing, and his copy has appeared in publications as diverse as T3, Men’s Health and The Sunday Times, as well as company brochures and ad campaigns.
